The fact of the matter is that most people don’t like change, because they see it as something being taken from them, often regardless of whether it is something that they like or not. For example when your wife or spouse clears out a cupboard and you say, “you can’t throw that out, that’s my favourite shirt.”
To which she replies “you haven’t taken it off the hanger in five years.” I think you know what I mean.
But change doesn’t necessarily mean losing something, and if you program your default mechanism to always see the positive in a new situation, then you’re going to start to get good at, and even love change. For example, how about if your boss said to you, we’re thinking about giving another 20% in your wages this month for the same work. For most people that would be a nice change.
